During my junior and senior years, I participated in a research team which investigated the impact of a robot's presence and mediation on human conversation. We discovered that a highly anthropomorphic robot fostered greater human-to-human closeness when delivering positive feedback, whereas a less lifelike robot had the opposite effect, increasing closeness when providing negative or equal feedback.
